September 30 to October 2, 2022
FREEZEOFF
Barriere Fall Fair Hall

Warm Greetings Tir Righ,

The Shire of Ramsgaard is welcoming all to one of our favourite events - Freeze-Off, being held Sept 30th, to October 2, 2022. At the Barriere Site in the Fall Fair Hall. This year's Theme is " Having SCA Fun". This is our first full event since COVID and we are excited to be hosting our friends once again.

Site Fees - Members $15.00, Non-Members $20.00 and under 18 years - no charge.

Event Update:

We are honoured and delighted that our Prince & Princess will be attending and sharing our event. I will post a Schedule once organized and confirmed by Their Highnesses.

Merchants are very welcome with no additional fees over your site fee. Just let me know so I can organize spaces for you.

Marshallate events - There will be a Heavy Armoured Defenders Tournament and our traditional "Wacky Weapons" Tournament (don't forget to bring your strange & odd weapons and also your gauntlets). There will be a Rapier Defenders Tournament and Defenders Archery Challenge as well as our first official Defenders Thrown Weapons Challenge.

This year's Arts & Sciences Defenders Tournament will be a bit different and in keeping with our Event Theme - "What made the SCA Fun and Magical for you"? An item that brought you fun in the SCA or your best memories of the SCA. Extra points if you made the item yourself.

Bardic Defender will be Stories of Times in the SCA. Share your stories as we sit together sharing our evening picnic. If you wish to give your story via song that is fine, as long as it's a story of your SCA time.

A Note for all Previous Defenders - given out to our Defenders prior to Covid were the Shire Baldrics. Please come and defend your titles to keep the baldrics or have someone return them for us to use for the new Defenders. I currently have Arts & Sciences, Bardic and Thrown Weapons - just waiting for the rest and also the Chivalry Trophy - my thanks.

Are there contests? - A Super Six Largesse competition with the items given to our Principality.

There will also be classes available and the information on those will be posted shortly.

There will be space for sleeping in the Hall, RV parking, as well as outdoor camping for those who don't want to stop camping. Please let me know so I can make arrangements for you.

Food - We will be sharing a simple served lunch by donation and for dinner a "Bring your own Picnic" supper. We aren't able to provide a feast this year so having everyone bring their own picnic gives us the opportunity to eat what we want and share a time of Bardic Story Telling. Thank you for your support.

If anyone has questions or requests please post here or message me directly.

There will be more updates as they come in before the event.

We are looking forward to seeing you,

Cheers,

HL Sine Gunnsdottir, Event Steward

Shire of Ramsgaard.

Arts & Sciences

In the SCA we try to enrich each other's lives and bring beauty and knowledge to our Shire & Principality through what we call the Arts and Sciences (A&S). Research, classes, competitions and local project nights connect people from our Shire. They can teach or learn new skills and share historical knowledge about daily life habits like cooking & creating encampments, fine arts and crafts such as weaving, embroidery, jewelry making, leather-work, costuming and much, much more. Even the armour and weapon creation for all the combat forms of participation are A&S.

Arts and Sciences is one of the largest parts of the SCA as it effects most everything we do, but often the most unnoticed as it's usually done behind the scenes.

Here in the Shire of Ramsgaard we have an A&S Officer (and Deputy) who will organize activities, answer questions and guide where needed. We welcome all participation and at the present time we are hosting our A&S sessions alongside our weekly Fighting Practice on Thursday evenings. We will also follow all the current "COVID" guidelines that are laid out under the Fighting Practice notices.

Please direct any questions to Anasztaszia.
